Head Sommelier at JV Wine & Spirits, Jon Sévigny is a native of Montreal, Canada. He put himself through college and university by working and training at various restaurants in and around Montreal. This side job turned into profession when he became a Classical French-Trained Saucier. After moving to Vancouver, British Columbia, he became interested in wine as a natural extension of cooking. He received both his Sommelier Degree and Diploma from Wine and Spirits Education Trust, Vancouver, BC, and the Society of Wine Educators. He consulted for several Wine Shops and taught Winemaking. Sévigny was a principle organizer of the Vancouver Chapters of the American and Australian Wine Societies. He moved to St. Helena, in the Napa Valley in the late 1990’s. His connections with the wine industry continue to expand thru his association and personal alliances he has built with the younger, up and coming winemakers in Napa Valley, Sonoma and elsewhere.

Meryll Cawn
Sommelier

A Chicago native, Meryll Cawn developed her interest in wine while she worked in restaurants in college. After graduation, she expanded her wine and food knowledge by touring Europe for three months. "I fell in love with wine and food there," she said. Shortly after she returned to the U.S., she moved to California to work in the wine industry, and at first wanted to become a winemaker. After seeing the limitations of working for a winery, she was asked to join JV and develop their growing (3500+) vast wine selection. Cawn soon became known in the Napa Valley for having a very focused and classic palate. As JV Wine & Spirits Sommelier, she often is asked to consult for some of the three and four-star restaurants in Napa and Up Valley, offering expert advice about wine and food. Cawn is working on her ‘Master’ title and is a major force in the Napa Valley wine industry.

Raised in Napa Valley, Jorge has spent his whole life surrounded by the wine industry. While earning money to complete his college education, Jorge had the opportunity to work at several wineries. His detail-oriented personality was intrigued by the multifaceted world of wine and he decided to continue his career in the industry. Jorge’s skills range from creating bottle art to cellar work to planting vineyards. An avid gardener and horticulturist, Jorge has a deep understanding of the effects of the land on wines.
